Although these tropical birds are native to the Caribbean region they are not indigenous to the island of Anguilla. A few Parrots are known to be kept as pets on the island however sightings of these birds flying over the island’s low shrubs have increased over the past months.
Some theories are that a few domesticated birds escaped and also that there is a small wild population of parrots that migrated to Anguilla. The main diet of these birds is comprised of nuts and berries both of which are scarce on this dry island. What ever the reason may be these beautiful birds of the tropics are beginning to grace Anguilla with their presence.
